2018 SPRING EXHIBITION REPORT
The exhibition was a great success in terms of the quality of work and showing it
off to the public. We had 1300 visitors, that’s the most we’ve had since our centenary
year. We had a capacity number of exhibits, with no reserves, so no artist was disappointed.
The number of sales (19) was on a par with those of recent years, but the amount
people were prepared to spend was disappointingly low, with a total sale value of
only £897. That’s the worst I’ve seen since keeping records from 2011. I guess it’s
the sign of the times. Congratulations to Philip Haywood who received most votes
from the public for his painting “The Old Barn”. Close second was “Hydrangeas” by
Diana Thompson. Thank you to all who helped me with the running of the exhibition,
including those who sat, and a special thanks to Janet Lees, co-organiser, who went
the extra mile during the course of the event.
